The novel The Third Testament is the story of one man, Fred Sankt, living a good life, remembering his beloved wife, who has died of Melanoma. He has a daughter , Ellen, that he is very close to and so very proud of her energy and values as a young woman. She is the joy of his life, but he lives alone and nights are lonesome. Their faith and love is strong enough to carry father and daughter through life’s more trying moments.  But when Ellen is diagnosed with Melanoma he faces despair that tries to bring him down. But prayer is his salvation. Their friends’ loyalty and love help them as they struggle facing life-giving decisions.

It is a wonderful story of a family’s love, compassion for each other, and faith in God, even when bad times seem to happen more than their share. The writer continues to make this story uplifting by using faith and prayer to keep God’s strength nearby.

Besides this well-written story, there is an even more remarkable book inside. The father is a history teacher at a Catholic college. He loves the stories of heroes and martyrs of the Church. After a very vivid dream, during a restless night of worry, he sits at his computer to begin The Third Testament, relating the historical moments and the miraculous moments that have made great differences in the Church in the 2,000 years since Christ Jesus.

The stories he tells will strengthen your faith in your Church. In times when the news only seems to report negative articles regarding our Church, the writer uses the wonders and mysteries of that history to keep the reader amazed at the strength of the Church to survive, and survive it does. It is not a history story. It is a story of sermons to fishes, and of a good King who gives bags of gold to a poor family. It is the story of Satan’s role in Communism and how the meeting of a president and a pope defeated it.

I feel stronger and more committed than ever in my faith for reading this book and would hope that all Christians would read it. It is so uplifting.
